Quick French Bread

A family recipe which has been handed down, that I have made my own. Fool proof and perfect for those cold nights!

I have brought this to about every gathering you can think of and it is always a hit!

There is nothing better than soft, pillowy bread, am I right?

Quick French Bread

Ingredients:

1 1/2 C warm water

2 1/4 tsp instant yeast

1 tsp + 3 Tbsp sugar, divided

2 tbsp olive oil

2 1/2 C Bread Flour ( if mixing flours, use at least 3/4 Cup bread flour)

1 tsp kosher kosher

Instructions:

Activate your yeast by mixing warm water (105-115 degrees F) with 1 tsp sugar. Add your yeast and gently mix. Let sit until yeast rises and is bubbly.

In the bowl of a stand mixer, add oil and sugar. Mix until combined. Add 1 cup of flour and 1 tsp salt. Mix on low speed with a dough hook until just combined.

Slowly add in yeast mixture. Once combined, begin adding in the rest of your flour , 1/4 Cup at a time, stopping when sides begin to pull away from the bowl and dough is slightly tacky but not sticking to fingers.

Take dough out and form into a ball. Add to a prepared bowl that has been lightly coated with olive oil. Cover and place in a warm area until doubled in size. I like to set mine right beside my oven if I am cooking! About 1 1/2 hrs.

On a lightly floured surface, shape dough and place on a parchment lined cookie sheet. Cover and let rise once more. About 20 minutes.

Bake at 375 for 15 minutes or until just lightly browned!

Serve immediately with butter!
